Respite and Rehabilitation stays

Respite stays allow temporary relief for family members who act as the primary caregiver for their loved one still living at home. Some families pursue respite stay when they are going out of town for vacation or have an upcoming event where they are not able to care for their loved one temporarily.

Our requirement is a minimum two-week stay. During the time your loved one is with us they will have the opportunity to enjoy all our services and attentive care.

Rehabilitation stays are stays that have the goal of achieving a general level of independence before returning to their prior home.

These types of stays can happen after major surgery or while recovering from an acute illness. Some people choose to stay with us simply for added supervision and support until they become comfortable with caring for themselves after having received a new diagnosis such as diabetes.

Fun Activities

At Lakemont Senior Living we realize the importance of staying active as a vital necessity for the aging senior. We have a robust schedule of alternating activities to encourage movement, stimulation, and a sense of community among our members in the home.

We have live music two or three times a week with our entertaining and engaging musicians.

A beautician stops by on average, every six weeks to our in-home beauty salon. She gives a professional haircut and can also dye hair as needed.

On a weekly basis as an activity, we have a “beauty day” and style hair and do manicures and pedicures. We can apply traditional nail polish and gel polish.

We have daily scheduled group exercises to stretch and get our seniors’ limbs moving and pumping!

Some other activities throughout our week include:

  • Group BINGO
  • Board games
  • Card games
  • Puzzle races
  • Trivia
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Teatime
  • Game Day (Seahawks watch party or other teams based on preferences of our residents)
  • Cooking classes
  • Baking events
  • Movie night
  • Ice Cream Social
  • Holiday parties: Christmas, New Year’s, Valentine’s, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Fourth of July, Harvest Party, Thanksgiving.
  • Visiting library from King County Library System comes to the home once a month

We also tailor our activities based on the abilities of our residents in the home. Some residents, such as those with advanced dementia or who are bedbound, will have more one-on-one activity time or in a smaller group as they are able to tolerate it.

Many local churches are happy to volunteer and stop by to provide spiritual support, communion, or conversation for residents who wish to participate. Please let us know your preferences!

Another big concern and an important one is whether or not you or your loved one will be properly taken care of. Your concerns are valid and understandable, we strive to establish a trusting relationship with both our residents and their family.

We are here not only to tell you that taking care of our residents is our main priority, but we also want to provide you with evidence of this through our quality of care and attention to detail. With specialized staff who focus on each resident individually and take care of all their needs on a daily basis. We think family comes first and our residents are our family.

Another concern we come across often is, how will your loved one feel living in our home. Will they feel isolated? Will they feel lonely? Do they have enough activities to feel stimulated? These are all valid concerns. We know them and understand them.

However, at Lakemont Senior Living, we are making sure all our seniors feel right at home. We have weekly activities for them where they can invest in long-time hobbies or pick up new ones. Our goal is for every individual to get involved in our community and interact with each other in the home.

We are keen to pick up tendencies, or individual characteristics; some residents prefer to isolate and separate themselves; we make it a point to work alongside each individual to help them not only feel heard but realize that they are an important member of our household and encourage them to participate in all activities and routines.

We also celebrate every birthday and holiday together just like a big family. And since we’re talking about family we should also mention that we are avid supporters of family visits and family interactions so that our residents never feel left out of their own families.

We try to keep all our residents young at heart and mind so they are happy and healthy.

Moving into a senior home can be a big change in anyone’s life. Going from living in a home of your own to living in a home with other people can be a challenge. We get that.

That is why at Lakemont Senior Living we make sure every resident is comfortable and has their own space. We also encourage them to keep doing many of the tasks they were doing at home while we continue to provide support with daily and mundane activities when needed.
